UNIQLO Social Business Bangladesh Appoints New COO
UNIQLO Social Business Bangladesh Ltd. today announced the new appointment of Yuki Wakaizumi as Chief Operating Officer (COO) to drive the company mission of contributing to wellbeing in Bangladesh through its business activities. Wakaizumi, who has broad experience in retail operations and strategic product planning through her career at UNIQLO, will work to further expand the social business brand Grameen UNIQLO and to foster the growth of the Bangladesh garment industry.
One of the key objectives for Wakaizumi in the role is to empower women in an industry that is central to the health of the economy in Bangladesh. By helping to create equality and opportunity for women, starting with Grameen UNIQLO and its partners, UNIQLO Social Business Bangladesh is helping women to become the country’s business leaders of tomorrow.
Commenting on her appointment, Wakaizumi said, "Grameen UNIQLO has a great business strategy and is uniquely positioned to contribute to the development of Bangladesh society. The garment industry is supported by women, but we need to do much more to also put women in leadership positions. In my new role I hope to help more women become leaders in this important sector, and to contribute to economic growth in Bangladesh through the Grameen UNIQLO business.”
